'Pick & Mix' Riding Holidays

Is this the right holiday for me?

The 'Pick & Mix' option allows you to advise us on your ideal riding schedule.  Typically included in this package are flat work and jumping lessons within the school, non-ridden horsemanship sessions, and exhilarating or relaxing (which ever is appropriate) hacks out.

Suitable for non-novice riders only, this is the ideal holiday for those who wish to enjoy a break, but want to design their own package.  Our definition of a 'Non-Novice' is - those who have been riding regularly for at least three years, and are comfortable on most horses at all gaits.

The riding may be within the manege, non-ridden horsemanship matters, or hacks of between 1 hour and 3 hours.

What to expect!

  • A truly relaxing and rejuvenating stay in a fabulous location
  • Home-from-home comfort in our charming self catering Cottage or Log Cabin
  • A small range of well educated horses to enjoy and learn from
  • Friendly, empathetic instruction within the school
  • Breathtaking rides out in fantastic country
  • The chance to involve yourself in the care of your horse - when you choose!
  • Attention to detail, individual attention, and a friendly reception!

We only cater for one group of up to four riding guests at any one time...

We are thus able to give you one-to-one attention during your stay with us - should you need it. Your safety and enjoyment whilst at Gilfach are our primary concerns. Our excellent equestrian facilities enable us to provide a first class service to not only you, our guests, but also our equine friends.

"Truly inspiring" tuition is available 'on-tap'...

The instruction/lessons you will receive at Gilfach may well differ from the standard riding school experience, in that we work on teaching you to work with your horse, and vica versa -. i.e. Classical Equitation. Sheila and her team work with clients and the horse they are riding in a very "holistic" way. Even if you are sharing your instruction with others, we are able to work with you as an individual, enabling the lessons to be tailored to your needs and wants.

We have a range of amazing horses to work with ...

All of our horses are individuals, and just like us, have their differences. Each one of the horses in our small team is able to offer the rider something slightly different, and we are usually able to accommodate every guest that comes to Gilfach.

Instructional options to choose from:

  • The aids

  • Canter work
  • Lateral work
  • Riding a dressage test
