The Novice & Beginner Rider Package

Is this the right holiday for me?

This package offers an all-round introduction/consolidation to the important basics of horsemanship and riding.

Aimed at parties of at between 2 and 4 riders who consider themselves as either beginner or novice riders, we cover the all-important baics of horsemanship to get you started with your newly found passion! Being confident of a horse on the ground before you think about getting on it's back is kind of essential(!).

Who is this package not suitable for? Obviously non-novice riders, or those who wish to fast-track without the 't's being crossed and the 'i's being dotted - we don't teach like that!

Our definition of a 'Beginner' is - those who have never ridden before, or have ridden a few times in the past, but cannot do rising trot and have never cantered.

Our definition of a 'Novice' is - those relatively new to riding (within the last two to three years), can do rising and sitting trot, but not yet established in canter.

What to expect...

"Truly inspiring" tuition - available 'on-tap'...

You will be enlightened on the importance of good (safe and considerate) horse management, handling and care, and riding. We aim help you to enjoy your interaction with horses as enjoyable as possible by covering the all-important "ground work", so that you and your horses can continue your relationships harmonious, confident and safe.

Fundamental issues concerning health and safety (the basic do's and don'ts when being around horses, horse psychology - why horses do what they do and when, and how to communicate with your horse - get him to work with you rather than against, right from the start!, are all covered here. Guests also receive one-to-one instruction on handling horses, preparing the horse for exercise, and looking after his needs afterwards.

We have a range of "amazing" horses to work with ...

Within our team of great horses, we have a small number here at Gilfach are ideal "instructors" to the beginner or novice horseman. They will gently guide you through correct techniques and gently inform you of when you have got it wrong.  Always looking after you, so long as you look after them!

We only cater for one group of up to four visitors at any one time...

We are thus able offer attention to detail second to none - to both our guests and our horses. Accommodated in our lovely self-catering log cabin, you have the opportunity to indulge yourself in horsemanship during the day, and retreat for rest and relaxation at the end of it. Bliss!

We are unable to take novice riders out on hacks.

The package is priced on a daily basis. You can stay for as long or little as you like.  The specific schedule can be tailored your personal needs and wishes.
