Full Livery

Gilfach Equitation offers a high quality full livery service.   Managed by qualified and experienced professional staff.  Appropriate licenses, insurance and Approval (British Horse Society) are held.  Twenty four hour a day supervision and an exemplary yard routine is provided.  The health, safety and welfare of all horses resident at Gilfach is of paramount importance to us.  As a small yard, a peaceful and contented atmosphere is also important to us and our horses.  Spaces are limited.

 

Included in our Full Livery Package:-

Purpose-built stabling within an enclosed, sheltered, well-ventilated, well-lit, rubber matted barn

Each stable has

Rubber matting floors and anticast strips

Wooden hay mangers allowing feeding from the ground

Automatic drinkers

Electrical lighting and sockets to the current safety standards

Grills between each stable to allow socialising

 

 

Extensive pastures extending to around 40 acres

Summer turn-out Paddocks

Divided into between 0.5 to 2 acre areas allowing horses to be turned out individually or in small groups to allow safe socialisation

Permanent electrical fencing

Secure boundary fencing and gates

Natural shelter belts

Automatic waters troughs 

Poo-hoovered daily; harrowed, rolled, topped, muck-spread and rested as appropriate

Easy access from the main yard

Summer paddocks are rested completely throughout the winter months

 

Winter Grazing

Approximately 25 acres of the farm are used for our horses that live-out throughout the year for the winter months

Free access to a large field shelter, haylage, numerous water troughs and extensive shelter belts

Secure boundary fencing and gates

Daily health and wellbeing checks

A limit to a maximum of eight the number of live-out horses over winter

Pastures are completely rested during the summer months

 

Purpose built all-weather sand-turnout areas

All stabled horses have a minimum of 3 hours turn-out time per day (unless medical conditions prevent)

Divided into small areas allowing horses to be turned out individually or in small groups to allow safe socialisation

Fully qualified and experienced Classical trainer on site

Our neighbour, Marc T Jones, also happens to be an excellent farrier!

 

Horse Dentist

We have an annual visit from a qualified Equine Dental Technician  

 

Worming Regime

Faecal egg counts are taken on a regular basis.  Chemical de-wormers are administered as advised by our Equine Vets  

 

Equine Vet

Gilfach Equitation uses the excellent services of Abbey Equine Clinic, Abergavenny, for all health matters regarding our resident horses.  We insist that all horses resident at Gilfach are vaccinated against Tetanus, and strongly advise vaccination against Equine Flu.

 

Master Saddler

Gilfach Equitation uses the excellent services of Llwynon Saddlery, Trecastle, for all saddle tack fitting and rug cleaning/repair needs

 

Pricing

£69.85 per week for full livery

8am Morning routine: hard feed, haylage, watering, rug-change, turn out, mucking out, bedding down, prepare evening and morning feeds, setting fair

3pm Putting to Bed routine: Skipping out, bedding down, night-time haylage, watering, bringing in, leg hose if needed, rug change, brushing off, feet picked out, evening feed, setting fair

10pm Night time checks on well-being, haylage and water provision

 

Additional costs

Bedding - wood pellets at £6 per week for an average horse

Haylage - £12 per week for an average horse

Hard feed - at cost according to horse’s needs

Farrier, Dentist, Physiotherapist, Worm Counts, Veterinary services, Saddlery services are charged as appropriate

Exercise, training, schooling of your horse (£20 per session of 45 mins) to include tack clean.
