Diary - January 2012

Happy New Year!

..to all our visitors past, present and future. Despite all the gloom from both the sky and the media, let's hope for a good 2012 on all counts.

Horses

All are well, with the non-school horses enjoying their training whilst the "school horses" have either a good rest, or at least a lighter load, for a few months.

Our two 'horses in for training' are doing well, having settled well into the Gilfach routine, and enjoying being fit for the work being asked of them. Al (pictured) is ready to resume a useful life with a suitable carer/rider. Keep an eye on our "Horses for Sale" page to see details shortly.

The human team

Finally we are back to usual staff numbers following the various staff holidays for the festive season. We managed very well with less hands-on-deck, but I for one am looking forward to a less arduous work load (so is my aching back!).

Horses for Courses

We have begun our 'In-Hand Training of the Horse' winter course, which is running each Saturday or Sunday for five weeks. Well attended, and so far running smoothly (despite the activities of the local Hunt adding to the excitement of the afternoons).

Plans are in the making for a 3-day residential course sometime in the summer to look at human and horse core stability/biomechanics, and practical riding skills - to be taught by Chartered Veterinary Physiotherapist, Sarah Price, and myself. Please do let us know if this would be something of interest to you.

Happy New Year. We look forward to welcoming you to Gilfach soon.
